Yo dude, just how far down does that tattoo go?Well after numerous problems trying to get a stable connection at the hotel, I finally gave up. Between, the beach, sun and hula boys, I decided to give up until I got back home. Anyway, got some requests for more details so now let's see if I can recap the past week. K and I took 3 of our best friends with us for a little sun and fun in Hawaii. For those of you that have ever traveled on passes, you'll know that sometimes getting there can be half the battle. Ours started when one of group couldn't leave as early as we hoped. So we ended up spending a lovely night in the oh so exciting town of Houston, Texas. Yeeee hawwww! Picture a group of gay boys hanging out in the hotel bar that night surrounded by Texas rednecks in town for the rodeo. LOL! Wasn't bad though, lots to look at and we just kept the waitress entertained. On to HNL... K and I have been there several times but for Triskal, Johnny, and Toodles, it was a first. Waikiki can be quite a lot to take in if you have never been there before. Palm trees, tall buildings, and Japanese and American tourists EVERYWHERE. I mention the Japanese tourists for a couple of reasons. One simply for the sheer number that come to Hawaii, and the other is the strange phenomenon that happens when K is around Asian women. They seem to have it out for him, like some sort of mafia. They are always bumping into him, cutting him off, scowling, and basically just unpleasant. It is like they are out to get him. All unprovoked. Just bazaar. Now what do good gay boys do when they first arrive in Honolulu? Well since it wasn't just the two of us this time, we bypassed the room christening and made the b-line directly to Hula's. Mai Tais and $5 pitchers of beer. I love this place. The bar itself is not all that, but it is open air and funky. I think the best part is the people. Since most are tourists, it seems to lack the cliques of most gay bars. People are more relaxed and easier to talk too. Triskal and Johnny were a hit. I think they learned just about everyone's life story that passed through that bar while we were there. Even Toodles got drunk a couple of times and he NEVER drinks. "Walking is funnnnnn!" Day two was beach day. Now why is it that we always seem to get the worst beaches? Well, it is still by Waikiki beach so it isn't THAT bad, just a lot more rocky than the main beach. The boys got introduced to In Between, the cool little Karaoke bar. Day three was the catamaran ride. Nothing like sipping Mai Tais on the blue Pacific with a boat load of gay boys! And then there was Angles and Fusion to cap off the night. Like I mentioned earlier, these bars in themselves are not all that spectacular, and maybe nothing like so many on the mainland, but they are here so this is where people go and that is what makes it fun. Now Triskal is the prowling type. Always looking. Luckily here you never have to look far. If anyone wants to know about which hotels have the best rooms, he is the one to ask! Being together as long as K and I have, it is fun to watch the single boys. I swear they can spot a hot guy 5 miles away. Anytime we heard an "Hola", there was sure to be one close by. All of a sudden, 5 heads turn in unison. 5 guys stumbling into parked tour bus all because one uber hot walking tattoo. Mahalo is the other term we stole. Hawaiian for "Thank you", this trip it took on another meaning and reserved for the uber special you want to take back home. And, I think they each found at least one Mahalo. Sunday was another beach day. God I love Honolulu when the Navy comes to town. Seamen for days! We did pop into Hula's for a bit. I had forgotten it was Superbowl Sunday. I never knew so many people were into watching a football game. Thought that was just for the straights and the Lesbians. What the fuck is this? I have soooo much to learn. And what is a first trip to the island for these boys without the drive around to the North Shore? Cool waves and hot guys! Ok, so that was the trip. Yes, yes.there was a lot more in the way of details I could share. The swim suit that kept falling off, the old couple that tried to take Johnny to the sex club, the drunken nights of debauchery, but I'll just keep that stuff secret. So if you see me out, just buy me a drink, cause my friends are a sure thing. Aloha. |
