Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

Well, here's a belated Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. It has been a few weeks since I took the time to write anything. Mainly just taking a break from a few things to allow me to focus on others.

K and I spent Thanksgiving up at my Mom's house in the mountains. She and my step dad recently built a new place about an hour out of town. Mom got back into town on Thanksgiving day, so we actually did the holiday on Friday instead. Small group this year. Just my mom, step dad, K and I, but it was nice. I can't wait to spend Christmas up there. I have only had a couple of holidays spent up in the mountains. Funny considering we are so close, but the family was always in town. There is just something neat about being up in the hills, in the trees on Christmas. If the Farmer's Almanac holds true, we should even have snow, which will make it all the more magical.

I have always loved the holidays. K is the opposite. He hates them and would almost rather ignore them altogether. He has gotten better the past few years we have been together. For me though, that is such a foreign point of view. Different upbringings. But I am glad he is being open to our celebrations.

This year is rather mixed in my emotions of the approaching holiday. As I mentioned, I look forward to spending it at the new house in the mountains, yet financially, this year will be really tough. I think the gift giving is going to be pretty sparse. Though K is working now, we accumulated a hunk of debt over the past two years, plus close to $1000 in medical bills from my little illness recently. To top things off, the high pressure hose on the truck's power steering went out and the alternator. Total cost $697. Ugh...

Now some of you might be thinking and I have indeed been asked, "why did you take the truck into the shop to do the alternator?". Yes it is easy to do, if a) you have the right tools and b) you have a place to work on it. I was also on a time deadline since we had to have it fixed before Thanksgiving. Besides, what self respecting gay man would dare dirty his hands on such labor intensive work. LOL, actually I would. I love working on cars. I miss having a garage to do that. Had I had a garage and the time, the alternator would have been only about $100 (for a rebuilt one) instead of $400 for a new one plus labor. $400!!! Jees, I mean I like getting fucked, but not like this. Oh well, they are both fixed and things are running good now.

Well, enough for now. Hope everyone had a good day and didn't stuff themselves too much (oh, I could have so much fun with that statement, but I will be good). Stay safe and try not to drive too fast.
