Deck the halls

Well here it is. Just two days till Christmas. Hopefully everyone that celebrates this holiday has finished all the decorating, planned all the food, and wrapped all the gifts. And what could be more perfect? Just a little snow to make the season right. I think most people by now have heard of our little holiday blizzard that came to town and left behind a bag full of snow for all the boys and girls. But getting over two feet is a little much!

We are lucky enough to have a garage so didn't have to dig out as much as some people did. But having an underground garage doesn't do you much good if you can't get out. No, we got stuck for a couple days like everyone else. All and all it wasn't so bad. Got to be off work for a couple days. So K and I just hunkered down with a fire in the fireplace and vegged out on movies.

Then there are the poor saps out at the airport! Our airport closed for two days and something like 2000 flights were cancelled around the country. Having a flight cancel sucks, because then you go on space available once a new flight is available. I truly do feel bad for them being stuck out there and now that flights are going again, the scramble is on to find an open seat. Glad I'm not there. No, instead I will be hitting the mall tomorrow to join the Christmas Eve shopping frenzy. Honestly, I think I would rather be stuck at the airport. I hate shopping. Yes, that's right, I HATE it. Let alone shopping in hoards of people that have recently been paroled from their 2 day snow cave captivity. Oh joy! (to the world...)

Every year I always put off Christmas shopping until the last possible minute. Usually not until the day or two before. But close enough. I actually have been able to get out since Friday. But work took that day. Today I was simply a slug. No motivation. Finally I dragged my ass down to the bookstore for a couple items. The only reason I did that was that I can walk and I didn't have to deal with parking. I like people watching when I shop. Watching all the gay boys frantically searching for that oh so perfect gift. But I like to do that when I'm not so stressed to get something myself. What makes things even worse this year is K's car decided to die last week. I was not really much of a car anyway but got awesome gas mileage. But it finally gave up the ghost and it was going to be two grand to fix it, so instead we popped for a newer one. But having to come up with the cash down payment sucks this time of year. We've been spoiled the last 5 years by not having any car payments. Now that's back and looks like we may have to trade in the other soon as well. We were hoping to trade mine in this spring and when K's when out it took us by surprise. We are also losing our roommate (been renting a room from us for a few months). No more rent income, car payment and Christmas shopping...oh the joys of being poor! LOL! So this year will be a little lean on the gifts, but that's ok. We really have all we need and that is more than some people in this world. For that I'm thankful.

Here is wishing all you the best for the holidays and may the new year grant us all health, happiness, and finally some peace for this beautiful blue world we call home.
