Little buddy, you finally made it off the island.

I haven't blogged much about New Orleans. I guess because it is just too awful for me to try to get into words. Besides, others have done a much better job than I could have.

In the midst of watching the ongoing horror reports, yesterday they announced that Bob Denver, good ol' Gilligan, has passed away.

Like many, I grew up on reruns of this show. I dreamed of living on a tropical island like that in the show. To this day, my love of tropical places is pervasive in most of my travels. Life there was simple. A wonderful escape for a young kid to go to escape the pains of divorcing parents, loneliness, and the general pains of growing up gay in straight world. It was my haven, my paradise. A place that always made me smile. They always came up with an answer for all of their troubles. I still fantasize about living on a small tropical island. Though I would like to take my prince charming, a small group of friends and my internet connection lol! I will miss you Gilligan but luckily you left us your life on the island on DVD! Think I'll go buy a coconut cream pie.
